Poultry farming will boost Nigeria’s economy – PAN

The Chairman, Poultry Association of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter, Mr. Oladapo Robinson, has said poultry production will stimulate economic growth and enhance foreign exchange earnings for the country.

He also stressed that the venture would enhance national food security.

He spoke during the Kwara Poultry exhibition in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Wednesday.

Robinson said the group had organised agriculture quiz for secondary schools in the state and held an egg rally where eggs were distributed to members of the public.

He described eggs as the world’s wonder food.

He called on the government to include PAN in the school’s feeding programme to ensure its success.

According to him, the state government is developing a data base in order to have a direct dealing with genuine farmers. Robinson urged the people to regularly follow up on government programmes and initiatives that were relevant to them and those affecting their business.

The Special Adviser to the Kwara State Government on Agriculture and Rural Water Support Services, Mr. Anu Ibiwoye, said the state government planned to provide loans to farmers across the 16 local government areas in the state.
